Myron - Myron is an antibiotic. It fights bacteria in the body.
Myron is used in the treatment of infections of the abdomen, such as appendicitis and peritonitis, bacterial meningitis (infection of the lining of the brain), and skin infections.
Myron may also be used for purposes other than those listed here.
Indication: Single-agent treatment of complicated skin and skin structure infections, complicated intra-abdominal infections (ie, appendicitis, peritonitis), and bacterial meningitis when caused by susceptible microorganisms.
Unlabeled Uses
Empiric therapy in febrile neutropenic patients; community-acquired pneumonia (if Pseudomonas is a concern); hospital-acquired pneumonia (including ventilator-associated pneumonia and health care- associated pneumonia).
Myron is a broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic. It is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Myron exerts its action by penetrating bacterial cells readily and interfering with the synthesis of vital cell wall components, which leads to cell death.
Indications:
Adult: IV Susceptible infections 0.5-1 g 8 hrly. Meningitis 2 g 8 hrly. Cystic fibrosis Up to 2 g 8 hrly. Skin infections 500 mg 8 hrly. Diabetic foot; Intra-abdominal infections 1 g 8 hrly.
