DISTINON 60MG contains Pyridostigmine which belongs to group of medicines known as cholinesterase inhibitors. It is used to treat myasthenia gravis. This medicine stops the excessive activity of cholinesterase and in this way help muscles to work properly. Myasthenia gravis is a neuromuscular disorder that weakens the skeletal muscles used in the movement of the body. It is caused by excessive activity in the body of a protein called cholinesterase. This medicine is also used to treat some rare forms of constipation (paralytic ileus) and inability to pass urine after an operation. It inhibits the destruction of acetylcholine by cholinesterase and thereby permits freer transmission of nerve impulses across the neuromuscular junction.
Take DISTINON 60MG exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you are suffering from any kidney problems, Parkinson's disease, asthma, or stomach disorders, pregnant or breastfeeding. Your doctor will give the dose depends on your childâs age and body weight. The common side effects are stomach upset, diarrhoea and vomiting.
